My philosophy of education is centered around the idea that all students are capable of success. I believe that catering my instruction to the needs of my students is a way in which I can help my students achieve all they can within my classroom. Each of my students will be their own unique individual, entering my classroom with their own funds of knowledge or in other words backgrounds, hobbies, interests, and abilities. I intend on working hard to better understand each of my students and their funds of knowledge. By understanding who my students are I will be better equipped to aid in guiding them on the path to success. All my students will be successful in their own ways.
Social Environment

I believe in a classroom that is centered around a social environment. I believe that students learn best through socialization of the peers around them. Providing students with both structured and unstructured opportunities to interact allow for students to grow both socially and academically. I am a firm believer in the fact that students learn from one another. They feed off each others knowledge, as well as question and challenge one another. I believe in working together to problem solve and engage in wholesome learning is something that will enrich my classroom. I intend on using a plethora of strategies to engage all students in social learning including: whole class discussion, table group work and investigation, partner work, and support buddies. One strategy I use often is Think, Pair, Share. This strategy allows for students to talk to their shoulder partners in a quiet, calm environment and will allow them to learn and grow from one another. I want to ensure that my students are collaborating and working together to enrich their social skills which will aid in their own futures.
Focusing on the Students Funds of Knowledge
Each student is an individual with different interests, hobbies, backgrounds, and cultures. Each student will enter my classroom at different levels, have different abilities, and different wants and needs. I believe in getting to know my students well before they enter my classroom. I intend to do this by sitting down with the parents of my students and my students to get to know about their lifestyles. In my opinion when teachers understand their students everyday lives and backgrounds they can better incorporate the livelihoods of their students into their curriculum. When this is done students are more excited about learning and more engaged in learning as well. In my own classroom I hope to be able to understand each of my students. I want to create an open environment. I want each of my students to feel safe and welcome because that is one of the most important aspects of a quality education.
